Oyako-don is one of the most popular of recent trending foods on earth. It’s simple, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. It’s enjoyed by millions every day. Oyako-don is something that I’ve loved my whole life. They are nice and they look wonderful.

Classic soul food of Japan, the literal translation of Oyakodon (親子丼) means "parent-and-child rice bowl." Chicken (as in parent), egg (as in child), and onions are simmered together in a dashi and soy sauce-based broth then served on top of steamed rice. This is a delicious traditional Japanese meal consisting of chicken sauteed and then cooked in a Japanese broth, and then finished with egg and served over rice. It's really easy, filling and delicious.

The ingredients needed to make Oyako-don:
  1. Get 2 eggs
  2. Prepare 1 onion(small)
  3. Prepare 250 g Chicken thigh
  4. Make ready 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  5. Make ready 1 tablespoon~ sugar
  6. Prepare 1 tablespoon hondashi(Powder,japanese soup stock)
  7. Make ready 1 tablespoon sake(if you had it)
  8. Get 500 ml water
  9. Make ready black pepper (as you like it)
  10. Prepare 2 bowls cooked rice

Oyako means parents and children, like chicken and egg, and don (donburi) means a bowl. It's a whole meal in one bowl. It is a healthy dish since everything is boiled with no added oil. Oyako-don is a quick and easy dish that is low cost and filling.

Instructions to make Oyako-don:
  1. First, slice up the onion and chicken cut into cubes.Pour water, hondashi and sake in a pot.Cook it on medium heat. when the pot boils,add the onion and chicken and sugar.Heat until meat is cooked.It is delicious even if you simmered onions.
  2. Then,add soy sauce to the pot and heat for 5 minutes.I don't recommend putting soy sauce from the beginning.(Please taste it and adjust the amount of soy sauce.)
  3. Heat the pan over medium heat.Scoop up soup and ingredients from the pot.And put in a frying pan.Beat an egg in a bowl.Pour egg evenly on surface to the frying pan.Put the lid until the egg is heated.
  4. It is like this.And put it on rice.
  5. It's ready to eat!(Put on a black pepper.)
